Creating a Lifestyle to Honor Healing the Nervous System

Network Spinal repatterns, reorganizes, and heals the nervous system.  It brings consciousness and healing to the deep patterns that have been ingrained in the nervous system (usually since childhood), allowing you to have conscious awareness of patterns that you may be unconsciously choosing.  It gives you the ability to adapt to current life circumstances in more efficient ways, to become more resilient…..TO HEAL.

How do you create a lifestyle that honors your healing process?  If you are constantly in a hurry, rushing from event to event, and moving through life in an unconscious state due to stress and an overactive mind, SLOWING DOWN will greatly benefit your healing process.  When I refer to slowing down, I mean implementing specific activities, breaks, and awarenesses that support nervous system regulation.

While regulating the nervous system doesn’t repattern the nervous system like Network Spinal does, regulating the nervous system is an important component of providing the space for healing.  Most of us came into Network Spinal care in an elevated sympathetic or fight-or-flight state.  Network sessions allow this fight-or-flight physiology to dissipate as the parasympathetic side of the autonomic nervous system can become more active. Taking time during your busy days to continue activating the parasympathetic side of the nervous system (beyond your Network session) is extremely supportive of your healing process.  Check out my list below of activities that could take 3 minutes or more (your choice) throughout your day and would ideally be LAYERED into your day.  Remember, it didn’t take just one incident, one trauma, or one stressful day for your nervous system to create its current patterns.  It will be repetition, honoring your healing process, creating space and a lifestyle that honors your healing process that will allow healing to unfold in its most productive way.

  • Make rest a priority with healthy sleep routines (naps are great too!)
  • Mindful movement exercises
  • Somatic stretches (child’s pose, cat/cow, etc.)
  • Balanced nutrition (sugar/inflammatory foods are stressful to the nervous system)
  • Reduced exposure to stressors (caffeine, alcohol, screen time)
  • Creating healthy boundaries with relationships
  • Journaling
  • Prayer
  • Meditation
  • Reading
  • Creating authentic connections
  • Listen to music
  • Play
  • Spend time in the sun
  • Spend time in nature
  • Breathwork (especially in-through-the nose, out-through-the mouth breathing with a longer exhale than inhale)
  • Therapy
  • Creative Expression
  • Affirmation practices
  • Choose activities that facilitate learning and growth
  • Find opportunities for acts of kindness
  • Develop a daily gratitude practice

Enjoy this process, this unfolding, and creating a lifestyle that supports your healing process.  And remember, Create Health by Choice, Not by Chance.
