Medicine is Not Organized to Create Health; A Shift in Mindset is Necessary for Prevention

Many of us are joyfully closing out the year of 2020.  The pandemic has brought about sadness and frustration for many.  As a health practitioner, if I step back from any personal feelings brought about  by our current situation, I can clearly look at what the pandemic is bringing to the forefront in the culture of American healthcare.  That is: there is no room for an unhealthy lifestyle.  The modern medical system does not have the tools nor focuses on the tools that keep you well.  Additionally, if you rely on this system to save you in a crisis, having an unhealthy lifestyle will make it more difficult for you to recover.  I have watched so many make the decision to eat poorly (because that is the standard in America as well as it is quick and easy), not to engage in movement or exercise, or to let dysfunction within their physiology fester as their norm.  These lifestyle choices create inflammation, chronic disease, as well as dependence on the medical system to "save or fix" someone.  If you look at why the pandemic is hitting the United States in such an astounding way, this is the cause.

As we move further into a new decade, I am urging you to take action.  I, of course am not saying you should not use the medical system, but I am advising you to work on shifting your thinking to one of being responsible for your own health and creating your proactive wellness team, ie. a team of professionals that are able to guide you in factors to create a foundation of health in your lifestyle.  The medical profession will still be there for emergencies, but in reality, when a healthy lifestyle is consistent, emergencies typically decline tremendously in frequency.

I love creating a foundation of health for our patients.  With chiropractic care, we work on releasing neurological tension stored in the spinal cord and nerves that interferes with the messages sent between the brain and the body.  When we remove this tension, proper information is able to be received by organ systems for proper function as well as for the brain to receive accurate information from the body for coordination, healing, and repair.  Often, many of the patients we see have been seen by the medical profession (often multiple times) and told "everything is normal."  The medical profession just doesn't have the tools or training to look at the body in a holistic way (it's like seeing a patient with knee pain and only looking at the knee instead of how we would view this situation: looking at the entire body and discovering hip or even whole body imbalance that is actually creating the knee pain).  As patients go through chiropractic (specifically NSA) adjustments, their bodies can heal, shift, and change.  It is a process that creates an optimal level of health and wellness that isn't possible with medications and surgery.

As we move through December, we have 2 events to set you up for wellness in 2021.  On Wednesday, December 30th, at 6:15pm, we will be discussing the Ignite:21 program virtually.  This program is a 21 day challenge led by Functional Medicine Nutritionist, Jenn Evon, MS, to guide you in decreasing inflammation, regaining energy, and weight loss through nutrition, exercise, and stress management strategies.  Jenn is an expert in nutrition, movement, and lifestyle.  Let's start 2021 with success that can last!  On the bright side, the pandemic has pushed us to create many affordable, at-home options for nutritional and exercise guidance, while still providing expertise, action, and accountability.

On Wednesday, January 20th, at 6:15pm, The Vital Shift class will be taught virtually by Dr. Scott Hahn, D.C.  This class is designed to teach you how to be healthy from the inside out, how to boost your healing capability, and have an increased quality of health and life.  This class has been incredibly popular, but due to its virtual platform, we have higher capacity for attendance.  Register for either or both events at bodyinbalancechiropractic.com or call us at 303-215-0390.

It is time to take action for your health and wellbeing--no excuses!  It is time to create health and wellness, not to just depend on a medication or surgery to save you from crisis!  Our team is here to help in identifying the root cause of a health challenge and creating a plan for healing.  We would be honored to be a part of your health and wellness team.  Remember, Create Health by Choice, Not by Chance.
